About Anagha
I am currently doing my PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University in History. I have been teaching both young children and adults in and around Delhi since last 7 years.
My areas of expertise are History, and Language (English/Hindi/Sanskrit). Apart from the curriculum, I also engage students through alternative methods in understanding their subjects beyond the syllabus. I help them develop an interest in the subject.
Mostly I have taught ex-pats in Delhi, but my students also include Indian nationals.

Since the subjects I teach are history and languages, I make sure that reading the chapter in the book is the last thing I take up with the students.
While teaching History, I choose to present the students with a comprehensive idea about the space and time context. I introduce them to the important events/ideas/people of a respective time across a larger geographical range so that they understand history not in isolation but can relate things.
I also give them a lot of supplementary readings for them to understand a topic from different perspectives. The writing assignments that I give the students are also designed in a way that doesn't check their ability to reproduce what they memorize, rather they test the student's understanding of the subject. They are designed such that students are forced to think, develop their independent and informed opinions.
When I teach English, my primary approach with the students is that they speak the language as they learn. I don't just teach grammar or literature as in books, I try to bring the language in students' day to day conversations, making it a part of them, like their mother tongues.
I help them see the beauty of the language through it's literature. My attempt is not to make the learning a burden, a compulsion for the students. Rather, I make sure that they love what they are learning.
My approaches aren't fixed or predecided, but my intentions are. I design the modules depending on the students, their levels and their interests.
