About Aruna
As a Graduate Assistant, serving as a teacher and research assistant, I have had extensive training in composition pedagogy, and I believe I am an able teacher of beginner level English Course to freshman composition and sophomore literature. For more than three year, I have been teaching English literature courses to freshman and sophomore students.
As I often see students find writing difficult and uninteresting because of its deterrent mechanical rules, I have begun to take teaching writing as teaching its aesthetics, revealing its beauty in whole rather than dismantling its often-mind-numbing grammatical constituents in isolation. For the same reason, my first job as a teacher is to impart an impression on students that writing is interesting, which I achieve by establishing its inherent link with reading.
I believe, by avoiding an authorial position and shedding teacherly ego, I can free students from classroom-phobia: Freedom from a dictating figure is a prerequisite for a composition class, where lecturing and note making mean very little.
