About Luke

Since the age of 17, I have been involved in teaching and aiding in the learning of others. I started out my career as a qualified level 2 teaching coaching, before moving into a degree in sport and social sciences where I developed my knowledge of teaching strategies which I soon applied to working in an International Boarding school.

Having had a 'slight' career change, I undertook a masters in research methods which helped me obtain my current role as a PhD candidate in Criminology which I do alongside my duties as teaching staff at Edge Hill University.

My research interests have surrounded sports pedagogies and learning science, however over the last 5 years, I have become involved in youth justice based research, with my current project assessing the lived experiences of young men involved in Serious Youth Violence and Social Exclusion. Outside of work and academia, I have a love for sport, international music, and languages which I always have time for a chat about!

About the lesson

Having worked as a sports coach and teaching assistant in secondary education and currently University level, I have experienced of tailoring learning to specific needs and levels of ability in a variety of environments!

Expect lessons with me to be conversational and based around skill and knowledge development for application to your assessments, but more importantly, wider career contexts.

I have a BA in Sport and Social Sciences, an MRes in Sociology, and I am currently studying for a PhD in Criminology, all of which have involved extensive field work and theoretical learning.

My lessons are suitable are primarily suitable for level 4 to 6 undergraduate students, and level 7 students focussing on qualitative research, however I am open to A-Level students who feel I may be able to help!
