About Brandon
I have over a decade of experience working with students at the elementary/secondary and postsecondary levels. In the course of my PhD studies, I pursued a concentration in teaching philosophy, where I was formally trained in various approaches to teaching and taught courses with mentorship from a faculty member with decades of teaching experience.
In course evaluations, I have consistently received high ratings and positive comments from virtually all the students I have ever worked with.
My personal view is that no philosophical thinker or concept is too difficult for anyone, provided they are given patient, friendly, and systematic guidance in breaking a subject down. Whatever the challenge, we can and will figure it out together.

I work with all levels of students, from those in elementary school just learning what "philosophy" even means to those in advanced undergraduate courses in philosophy struggling to make sense of the complicated views of specific historical thinkers. My area of specialty is ancient Greek philosophy and early modern philosophy.
I often start by getting a student's intuitions on certain themes (e.g., being, freedom, virtue, happiness, etc.) in order to see how best to connect the material to their background and current knowledge.
I largely tailor my approach to what the student knows and needs, whether that means systematically discussing a philosopher, position, or concept from the very beginning or getting to very specific details within a certain philosophical account.
