About Laura
Hi, I’m Laura! I’m originally from Italy and have been working in neuroscience research and higher education for the past 10 years. I have a PhD in Neuroscience and spent the last few years at UCL, first as a researcher and then as a Lecturer in Neuroscience.
Over the years, I have taught students in neuroscience, biology and pharmacology through lectures, tutorials, practical classes and one-to-one supervision.
I have always loved science, but I also really enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with others. One of my favourite parts of teaching is finding different ways to explain a difficult concept until it finally clicks! I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, even when they think they should already know the answer. There are no silly questions in science!
Outside academia, I enjoy baking, spending time outdoors and going for long walks with my dog, Rita.

My lessons are tailored to each student and what they would like to work on. I like to start by understanding what you already know and where you are struggling, and then work through the topic together using clear explanations, examples and questions. My aim is not just to help you memorise information, but to really understand the concepts and feel confident explaining them in your own words.
I can help with different areas of neuroscience, including neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, neuroanatomy and neuropathology, at undergraduate and postgraduate level. We can work on understanding difficult topics, preparing for exams, improving essay writing, putting together oral presentations, or learning how to read, understand and critically evaluate scientific papers.
Lessons are typically one hour, but I am happy to adapt the length depending on your needs and what we are working on.
