About Erin
I am a post-PhD researcher in Linguistics at the University of Glasgow - specifically the sociolinguistics of minoritised languages like Manx and Scottish Gaelic! During my PhD I have gained significant experience in undergraduate teaching across multiple courses and levels, from introductory courses in Celtic history and languages, to second year courses on general linguistics, to final year courses on minoritised languages. I have also taught academic writing skills as part of the University's Student Learning Development team, and I have served as an academic mentor to fellow postgraduate students. Prior to my PhD, I taught English to secondary school students in Quebec, Canada.

Hello! I am a PhD graduate from the University of Glasgow with undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. I have over 4 years of experience teaching both secondary school and undergraduate students. I am offering tutoring in all areas of Linguistics for A-Level and undergrad students. Also, I am offering tutoring in essential university skills for undergrads and master's students, including academic writing, critical thinking/crafting an argument, and writing dissertations and theses. My teaching approach involves interactive activities and asking lots of questions to build your confidence and help you realise you know more than you think! Lessons will be one hour as frequently as needed. I would usually conduct lessons on Zoom, although happy to use Teams or similar if needed. Available from 1st April 2025 - looking forward to hearing from you!
