About James
I am very qualified to serve as a tutor for students in a variety of biological subjects. In my career as a professor I have taught undergraduate, nursing, medical and graduate students anatomy and physiology, general biology, gross anatomy, histology, medical and general cell biology, embryology and neuroscience. Each of these courses though filled with facts are also filled with concepts utilizing the facts. It is important for students to understand that form and function are not separate. Indeed, they are correlates. One makes no sense without the other. During my teaching career I have emphasized this concept. My interaction with students has been particularly rewarding. It is gratifying when I see that they have not only learned the facts but also have used them to form and understand various concepts.
Because of my extensive experience in teaching I feel that I am strongly qualified to be a tutor for any of the biology courses.

The first thing that I do is ask the students in what areas they believe they need assistance? Once the students’ needs are identified we set objectives for this and future sessions. Based on the objectives, lesson plans are developed. Free interaction between students and myself is highly encouraged. I want them to feel free to ask questions. I lead them to solutions to their problems through questioning (Socratic method) as well as didactic teaching. I individualize the methods for each student.
