About Emily
For 10 years, I have taught academic writing and reading in many different capacities: - as a professor of 4 writing courses and 2 literature courses - as a teaching assistant for 5+ courses - as a writing tutor/coach at 2 writing centers Having taught at 4 Canadian universities (University of Toronto, Queen's University, University of Manitoba, and University of Winnipeg), I have diverse knowledge of how writing and reading are taught and have worked with thousands of students. While my subject expertise is English literature, I have worked with students in any and all disciplines, including business writing and scientific writing. I have worked at Rotman Commerce's writing center, and my outsider perspective on the content of the writing strengthens my ability to provide feedback on the writing's clarity. I have also worked extensively in academic integrity departments as a program coordinator and instructor. I provide help to students without risk of academic misconduct while still guaranteeing improved grades! Lastly, I love working with students. I believe that every student has the capacity to make writing and reading easier and stronger, so long as they are given the tools by an experienced and empathetic teacher. I hope I can be that teacher for you!

Firstly, I believe that all students deserve compassionate and carefully constructed lessons.
I tailor my lessons to my students' individual needs, having worked with students at all levels (high school, undergraduate, and graduate) and in all subjects. I provide lessons on any combination of the following concerns:

With my PhD in English literature, I of course love working with students taking literature classes! I can provide assistance on any literary topics, with expertise on the following:

- 19th-century literature (Victorian, Gothic)
- Genre fiction (science fiction, fantasy, horror, dystopia)
