About Candyce
I am UKZN doctoral candidate in plant biotechnology and ecophysiology. I am planning on submitting my PhD thesis at the end of 2022.
I obtained both my MSc and Hons cum laude in plant ecophysiology and biochemistry and have taught at all undergraduate levels at UKZN throughout my PhD both contact and online (during the COVID-19 pandemic).
My PhD thesis focus is on screening various plant materials tolerance to various climate change-associated abiotic stressors.
The screening strategies involved include plant tissue culture among others.
My ultimate goal is to pass knowledge on to the next generation of budding scientists.

I conduct my lessons in English. I consider the needs of the student/class and adapt my teaching style accordingly. I tend to use a progressive view (Experimentalism) teaching philosophies with roots in the conservative view (Essentialism). Although I do encourage a radical view when there are set curriculums the teacher needs to have control.
