About Yasmin
As a mum, I was inspired to start Sutton Scholars after experiencing first-hand how frustrating it can be when your child is preparing for the 11+ but you don’t feel informed or supported. I wasn’t happy with my son’s progress or the lack of communication. I often didn’t know how he was getting on, homework wasn’t clearly explained, and it could take 3–4 days to receive a response from tutors.
I knew there had to be a better way. With nearly 20 years of teaching experience, I wanted to create a tutoring service that provided tailored work, clear communication, regular feedback and a much more personalised approach.
I wanted parents to know exactly how their child was progressing, what they were working on and where they needed to improve. Most importantly, I wanted children to receive work that was genuinely suited to their individual needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
That’s why I created Sutton Scholars to give families the personalised, supportive and transparent 11+ tutoring experience that I wanted for my own child.

My 11+ lessons are personalised, engaging and focused on helping each child make consistent progress. I begin by identifying your child’s individual strengths and areas for development, allowing me to tailor lessons to their specific needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
Lessons cover the key areas of the 11+ examination, including Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English. I use a combination of direct teaching, guided practice, exam-style questions and targeted activities to develop both knowledge and exam technique.
Regular assessment is an important part of my approach. I continually monitor progress and use this information to identify gaps in understanding and adapt future lessons accordingly. This ensures that time is spent focusing on the areas where your child needs the most support.
I also focus on building confidence, resilience and independence. My aim is for children to understand not only how to answer a question, but why their answer is correct and how to approach similar questions independently.
After lessons, children may receive personalised homework designed to reinforce the skills covered. Parents can access ongoing feedback and progress information through the Sutton Scholars online platform, allowing them to stay informed about their child’s development, targets and areas for improvement.
My lessons are supportive, structured and purposeful, providing children with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to approach the 11+ with greater confidence.
