About Kasey
I am committed to creating a safe environment for students, and I want all my students to know that I've committed myself to being a life-long learner. Each time I teach a course I learn something new based on observations of my students and because I'm re-engaging with historical texts with fresh eyes. There's always more to learn, there is always room to grow which is why I'm concerned with creating lessons that make you want to show up and try your best.
Please come to class as you are with your worldview, and let's critically engage with the world of your curriculum. This time in your life is some of the best time to learn how to interpret and receive information. So, let's get cracking.
I'm a dog-lover, a big sister, a New Yorker, and a complete movie nerd who works most of the time in Philanthropy. Ask me anything in our lessons, and if you're at an age where you may need support with career guidance-- I'm happy to lend some eyes on resumes and cover letters.

My lesson plans are great for young minds that may not "enjoy" history or struggle with historical cause and effect or being able to view the whole picture of their history courses do to fast-paced instruction.
Lessons are collaborative, hands-on, and ask your learner to engage with material in its historical context. This is great preparation 6th-12th grade students that will be asked to critically analyze historical texts and in many cases be asked to take standardized tests. I've a proven track record of success with AP Human Geography, US History, and Civics/Government/Economics.
What sets me apart is I realize that understanding history looks very different from the old-fashioned memorization method that was taught to me. Many children need context for the history they are learning and explore their reading comprehension skills as well as critical thinking skills in these classes.
