About Graeme
My experience as a performer ranges from playing principal flute with orchestras to jamming on my flute with drums and electric guitar. When I play, I aim to prioritize creation and collaboration above all. I love working with other musicians in small groups, and working with composers to create new works for the flute. I graduated from my bachelors degree in music performance from McGill University in 2024, and am now nearing the competition of my master's degree in performance.
As a teacher, I have experience working with students at all different levels and ages, from beginners to experienced players, and I often work with secondary school students as a flute coach.
I'm interested in exploring the other sides of your flute playing - extended techniques, improvisation, modern music, and unlocking inner creativity.

My approach to teaching is to meet my students at any level of experience, commitment, or area of interest to focus on what you want to learn. My experience with classical, pop music, and jazz and improvisation mean that I am well equipped to teach any style of music.
My philosophy is always based helping my students to discover and develop their own musical ideas, voice, and interests. Rather than a hierarchical student-teacher approach, I believe that the best teachers are those who equip their students the tools to develop their own artistry and technique.
I am able to teach in person, fully online, or a mix as works best. I have the equipment to offer you high quality video and audio in an online lesson.
