About Adam
My background is in education. I spent over 10 years as a teacher overseas instructing students aged 3 - 12. Of course my favorite subject to teach was art! Spending so much time as a teacher in a foreign country came with many challenges that I had to overcome. I learned that there is a never "one size fits all" approach when it comes to learning, and that every student requires some level of individual attention, regardless of their skill set.
I always let my students take the lead in deciding where it is they want to go. I do not want to develop you into the same type of artist that I am, I want to foster your own development and help you be the artist of your dreams. In terms of my own skill, I am most proficient in oil painting and in illustration. I have a strong foundation in color theory and composition - extremely important aspects that are applicable to any art piece.
I like to make sure my students know what it is they are learning and that their path is very clear. Once that is achieved, we can start introducing challenges. The best learning comes when a student says "I know how to get there, now I just need to work at it!"

Creativity is organic and deeply personal, yet understanding concepts like value, color mixing, and composition can unlock new levels of achievement. With the right guidance, anyone can build the skills and confidence to reach their artistic goals.
