About Emily
Hi! I’m Emily, a friendly and professional tutor currently studying for my PGCE in Primary Teaching. I specialise in making learning fun, helping children build confidence, and boosting their subject knowledge in English.
I have a lot of experience in Education. I am currently doing a PGCE in Primary Teaching and have had lots of experience teaching throughout my placement. I spent a year teaching in Abu Dhabi, which taught me how to adapt my lessons to every child’s unique needs.
I believe children learn best when they feel happy. I create a calm, 'low-pressure' space where it’s okay to make mistakes.
I hold a full Enhanced DBS check and prioritise clear communication with parents. My teaching style focuses on turning 'I can't do this' into 'I can!'

I believe that the key to academic success is a happy, confident child. My lessons are designed to be a nurturing 'safe space' where children feel at ease to explore new ideas and make mistakes, which I call 'learning milestones'.
I don't just teach the subject; I focus on the child. By building a strong, positive bond with my students, I help them find the joy in learning. My goal is to make parents feel completely at ease, knowing their child is receiving professional, high-quality tutoring in an environment that puts their well-being first.
What you can expect from my sessions:
We use 'I Can' checklists to break down big goals into tiny, manageable wins.
A calm and patient approach that reduces 'school-related' pressure and anxiety.
A clear, step-by-step path to increasing knowledge in Phonics, Reading, and Writing.
As a current PGCE Primary student, I use the latest evidence-based teaching techniques to make lessons both effective and engaging. Some techniques include: The 'Scaffolding' Method: I provide a temporary framework of support that is gradually removed as the child's independent knowledge grows.
After each session, I provide a brief summary after every lesson so you can celebrate your child's successes with them at home and be kept up to date with their progress.
Experience & Qualifications
PGCE Primary Teaching (In Progress): —currently training in the latest UK National Curriculum standards.
International Primary Educator: 1 year teaching in Abu Dhabi, working with diverse learners and EAL (English as an Additional Language) students.
4 Years Education Experience: Including classroom support, early childhood education, and private tutoring.
Safeguarding: I hold a full, valid Enhanced DBS check.
Who the tutoring is for: Children aged 5–11 (Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2).
Lesson Length: Typically 60 minutes to allow for a full cycle of learning. I also offer 45-minute sessions for younger learners to suit their attention spans.
Location: Available Online or In-Person in the Liverpool area.
