About Sandra
My path toward teaching Spanish to parents began somewhat unexpectedly, after several students mentioned wanting to help their own children learn alongside them. That recurring request shaped how I structured lessons afterward, always keeping an eye toward material parents could later reuse at home. Formal training in language pedagogy gave me practical tools for explaining grammar simply and clearly. That combined focus now shapes how carefully I plan lessons for parents and caregivers specifically.
Working with parents alongside homeschooling caregivers means treating every lesson as something that might get repeated to a child later that same day. I never assume personal fluency alone is the goal, since many students here genuinely want to teach, not just learn. What I find most rewarding is hearing a parent proudly share how their child picked up a phrase they'd practiced together at home. That ripple effect, passing Spanish from parent to child, means a great deal to witness.
I stay closely engaged with Spanish personally, through reading, conversation and ongoing interest in how language gets taught effectively. This keeps my teaching genuinely thoughtful and reflective of how parents actually use Spanish with their own families. Lessons often adjust closely around whatever a specific family hopes to build together. My hope remains constant, that Spanish becomes something parents and children genuinely share.

Parents learning Spanish often want more than personal fluency, they want language they can genuinely pass on to their children at home. Homeschooling caregivers share that same dual purpose, needing Spanish solid enough to teach confidently, not just speak casually themselves. Lessons here start with clear grammar foundations, built specifically to withstand being explained again later to a curious child. Everyday vocabulary stays central throughout, covering household routines, simple instructions and common classroom style phrases.
As confidence builds, students practice explaining concepts aloud, rehearsing exactly how they might introduce a word or rule to a child at home. Parents particularly benefit from simple teaching phrases, useful for correcting or encouraging a child's own early Spanish attempts. Homeschooling caregivers instead often need slightly broader vocabulary, covering subjects beyond casual conversation into basic instructional language. I keep explanations especially clear throughout, since students here often need to repeat them accurately to someone else afterward.
I remind students constantly that understanding something well enough to teach it demands a bit more depth than personal fluency alone. Reviewing material out loud, as if explaining it to a child, genuinely strengthens a parent's own grasp of Spanish. Lessons stay closely tied to each family's specific household routines and goals. My focus throughout remains supportive, helping parents build Spanish they can confidently share at home.
