About Steve
I have been a student of history which has interested me since I was a young student. I remain a student of history today. History is a never ending study of the past, starting from yesterday back to when it was first recorded. I have studied, and continue to study, the U.S. Constitution in order to understand our government and why and how it was formed. A great deal of critical thinking and historical reference to past governments served the founding fathers when they created the U.S. Constitution.
The study of law is important to ensure that elected and appointed government officials do not work outside the powers they have been given by the Constitution. More importantly, it is important so you grow older with an understanding your individual rights and the responsibilities which accompany them.
Finally, the study of history will enable the next generations to refrain from making mistakes made in the past; giving new generations a sort of "prescience" not enjoyed by past generations who made the mistakes from which we can learn.

Technique and lesson plans depends upon the student and subject matter under discussion. Teaching method is interactive with Lectures and Class discussion conducted by teacher with class invited to participate.
Requires Library research and book assignments, Reading assignments in supplementary books and document followed by written student thesis/theses. Problem solving is a part of history which case studies can elucidate solutions. Use of anecdotes or parables to illustrate methodology of critical thinking.
Illustrations when necessary.
Open book tests. Why? Open book test serve two objectives. One student learns not to rely solely upon memory and learns to quickly access a source for guidance. It also teaches students to take notes for oral presentation. Also, redundancy in reading material during test strengthens memory as opposed to a student guessing for an answer. Test will be given in class or assigned for out of class study.
The above list does not preclude other methods.
Student grade level, 8th and above. The objective is to teach critical thinking based on examination of history, the U.S. Constitution and Law. Main resources will be internet, ebooks, and hardbound books as available or needed.
My experience as a paralegal, researcher, working with attorneys throughout the country, and hundreds of lectures over 36 years, gives me real life experience when it comes to the nuances of teaching.
I teach for those who want to live life, not watch it go by.
