About Zac

I am a PPE student at the University of Oxford, having obtained my offer through a mix of top A-level grades and a strong application process. I have worked with a range of students in a range of situations - I have volunteered and worked with students from the age of 15, and have experience with in-person and online tutoring, as well as having supported children with learning difficulties, disadvantaged immigrant students, and aspirational high-performers. I take genuine pride in being patient, reliable and adaptable in my approach, as I believe that tailored support for an individual is life-changing, particularly for those who excel academically but need that extra, personalised assistance.

I believe in a student-led and flexible teaching style - from my experience, both in online and in-person tutoring, every student is different, and requires a different approach to make lessons engaging and effective. I put in hours behind the scenes to ensure that my lessons are suited for each individual's learning style; this is particularly valuable when working with students with learning difficulties, and when working with gifted individuals, both of whom I have worked with successfully in the past.

What I offer:
Having read a number of interesting articles, I found that scientific studies suggest that children and young adults, particularly those who excel academically, are not suited to hour-long instances of deep focus. For this reason, I trialled 40 minute lessons and found that they allow me to make the most of my time with students, and thus this is the standard length of lesson that I prefer to offer, although this site does not provide a tool for this. If required, I am happy to talk about different options to suit any student.
Within these 40 minute lessons, I tutor:
-GCSE - Maths, English, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), and Business
-A-Level - Maths, Chemistry, English Literature, Economics, Business

In addition, I offer personal support and guidance for university applications, particularly for high-achieving, aspirational students. Having been through the rigorous process myself to get into the best university in the world, I know how daunting it can be and aim to share my knowledge and expertise to give those students the places they deserve.

Details

As mentioned, research suggests that 40 minute sessions of learning can help information and understanding stick better in the minds of students, and therefore I prefer to conduct my online tutoring in this way. The pricing of these 40 minute sessions is as follows:
40 minutes, once per week - £22/session
40 minutes, twice per week - £20/session
5 week package, 40 minutes once per week - £99
5 week package, 40 minutes twice per week - £190

1 hour sessions are also available if this is preferable, at a rate of £29 per hour.

FREE 30 minute consultations are available - this gives students a chance to meet me, ask questions about my teaching style, and tell me what they want the lessons to focus on. This allows me to prepare for lessons and provide the best service I can once regular sessions begin.
