About Harry
My name is Harry and I’m a recent graduate of Oxford University where I received a BA History and Politics degree from Balliol College. My main interests include modern Middle Eastern and Chinese political history, but I am also interested in European history and politics, as well as culture and philosophy throughout history. Outside of my academic studies, I’m a musician and DJ. I also like football and boxing, as well as cycling and travelling.

My approach to teaching balances the needs of the student and their educational goals, with a desire to cultivate interest and attachment to the subjects we cover. If students wish to pursue Higher Education after their school studies, then it is necessary that they aspire to go beyond their mark schemes and take a creative approach to understanding history and politics. My students will therefore be provided with the necessary skills to excel in their exams, with reference to their syllabuses and mark schemes. I also aim to teach my students how to be original in their work - a skill that is necessary for Oxbridge admission, but also for approaching day-to-day life and careers. My lessons will be structured to meet the needs of individual students and will be planned with reference to their exam board mark schemes. Each lesson will focus on learning the necessary content through discussion and analysis of sources, secondary reading, and prepared material. Alongside this structure, students are free to tailor discussions towards their own interests when relevant to their course so that they may begin to specialise their knowledge and develop original arguments and analysis. This structure of lesson provides a baseline, but is flexible to the needs of the student.
