About Julia
I am a Philosophy, Politics, and Economics graduate from the University of Oxford, where I successfully navigated the highly competitive admissions process myself. I have extensive experience preparing students for Oxbridge applications and admissions tests, including the TARA. My students have gone on to receive offers from Oxford, and I have developed a strong understanding of how to break down challenging reasoning problems and teach students to approach them efficiently and confidently.

My TARA lessons focus not only on practising questions, but on developing a clear and efficient approach to the test. I teach students how to recognise different question types, assess difficulty, identify common traps, and develop strategies for reaching the answer quickly without sacrificing accuracy.
I tailor each lesson to the individual student, identifying the areas they find most difficult and building the skills they need to improve. For example, if a student struggles with argument questions, we can work on the fundamentals of identifying premises, conclusions, assumptions and the strength of an argument. For problem-solving and spatial reasoning questions, I focus on recognising patterns and finding the most efficient route to the answer rather than relying on lengthy calculations or trial and error.
The aim is to develop transferable reasoning skills and a personalised strategy that students can apply independently throughout the TARA.
