About the lesson

I am an enthusiastic musician who believes in the benefits of music education, and would like to engage more people in music. My lessons are geared towards sparking more interest and enthusiasm, which will move the student forward even after finishing the lessons.

The first lesson consists of getting to know the student and where they would particularly like to or need to develop. Thereafter, the choice of lesson material depends on this particular preference. Every lesson revises what we did last time and then introduces the new subject. I try to end each lesson on a high, mentioning some new interesting pieces as an inspiration or playing a musical game.

My method of teaching music theory is largely inspired by the Kodály method, which focuses on developing general musicality of the student. Musicology lessons try to dive into varied subjects, covering similar variety to that explored by the Oxford undergraduate music course. Conducting is taught through a range of different activities, from observing other conductors to conducting the piano and creating ensemble opportunities. Finally, I follow the ABRSM Grades system for teaching the piano.
