About Afrah
I am currently in my 4th year at Oxford University, studying Medicine. I have received a 2.1 Degree in Bachelor of Arts in Medical Sciences in 2019, also in Oxford. Before university, I graduated from Qatar Academy in 2016 as valedictorian with 45/45 points in the IB Diploma Programme. I also have lab experience in different Neuroscience research groups at Oxford - I spent a year with the Kohl Lab on sensory neuroscience, and am currently attached to the Sharott Lab analysing neural data from Parkinson's disease patients (so I am happy to tutor in any Neuroscience-related topics as well!).

My teaching method is best described as facilitator-style. I am of the firm belief that teachers can learn as much from students as the other way round, to develop critical reasoning skills and a deeper understanding of the subject. This is especially true in Science subjects, where understanding fundamental principles is the crucial first step before delving deeper into specific concepts. I will supplement this conceptual teaching with resources such as worksheets, videos, and past papers, and encourage and guide the student to read up on current scientific literature. Of course, what is most effective for one student may not be as helpful to another, so I will try to adapt and tailor my teaching to each individual.
