About Izzy
Hi there! My name's Izzy and I graduated from Oxford University in 2017 with a First Class degree in French and German Language and Literature. Before that, I achieved a full 45/45 point score in the International Baccalaureate, with Higher Level English, French and German, and Standard Level Maths, History, and Physics. I have been fascinated by languages and their literatures since I began studying them, and to this day am still surprised by the discoveries I make while tutoring these fantastic subjects - I often find myself learning as I teach!
I have over 10 years' experience in both private one-on-one tuition and classroom teaching, having taught extensively online and in Sweden, France and England. My specialist subjects are Modern Languages (French and German) and English Language and Literature, taught at all levels, as well as tailor-made IB Extended Essay assistance. I strive to be a friendly and fun tutor with the ability to combine enjoyable classes and effective results - together we can find a new approach to your studies which both motivates and supports you all the way. I am committed to fully structuring and preparing every lesson I teach and I draw from a large range of learning materials I have collected over my years of tutoring which I ensure the student has access to prior to each session. Coupled with the online whiteboard and screen share facility, I find this a highly effective way to deliver online tuition.
However, I also recognise that every student is unique and has individual needs - this might mean we concentrate on oral language learning, listening exercises, reading comprehension, writing skills, literary analysis or any combination of the above! I believe the key to success is a flexible approach to learning, and a willingness to reassess and adapt our methods regularly. To this end I incorporate vocab tests, quizzes and frequent recaps to consolidate the material we've covered...all while maintaining a sense of fun and intellectual adventure within the classes so you feel stimulated and engaged!
