About Anna
I’m an Oxford biology graduate with experience tutoring in China and the Middle East and a master’s degree in bioarchaeology from Leiden University in the Netherlands. I’m currently finishing a PhD in public health at Aix Marseille University in France, where my thesis has focused on sociocultural dynamics of the dengue virus in Latin America. Due to my broad experience across tutoring and academia I’m able to support students at a wide range of levels with regards to exams, writing, research and applications.

I believe that everyone is capable of reaching their academic goals with the right support and approach, and that learning should be interesting and efficient. My approach focuses on the individual: understanding difficulties they might be experiencing and why, in order to build an approach that allows them to overcome such barriers. In concert with this I support my pupils by breaking down the requirements of a subject, exam or application in order to allow them be tackled more effectively. Additionally, although I appreciate from first-hand experience the need for efficient personal learning strategies to meet specific goals, I have a genuine passion for knowledge, research and science (both social and natural), which I try to transmit to my students through discussion of the real world applications of topics. My years of experience of Oxford tutorials contributed to my belief that inspiring academic discussion with a tutor can make a huge difference to one’s understanding, interest and confidence in a subject, and has informed my tutoring style.
