About Jill
I am a current undergraduate student at Oxford University studying English Language & Literature. Having received a distinction in my preliminary examinations, I will focus on medieval languages and the history of the English language. I have experience volunteering as a tutor for university application preparation and set up a tutoring scheme at my secondary school. I also spent a month this summer working at an English school in the Dominican Republic where I led classes with children aged 5 to 15 years old. I am willing to offer private lessons in GCSE/A-Level, Irish Leaving Certificate English and UCAS application guidance on personal statements, the ELAT exam and Oxbridge interview prep.

Tutoring sessions should differ from school lessons in how they should always be student led. The focus in my classes will always be on what the student wishes to gain from the class. I hope to foster an environment in which curiosity is valued and one in which the student feels comfortable asking any questions they wish to. My teaching method for exam preparation will always be based off the marking scheme, working backwards from the perspective of the examiner to what the student must do in order to achieve the best possible grade available to them.
