About Cristiana
I am currently finishing my DPhil in Classical Languages and Literature at the University of Oxford and have experience in teaching Latin, ancient Greek, and aspects of classical civilisation to students at various levels of their academic career, including high school students and first-year undergraduates. I have a strong record of education in classical studies, having earned a BA and MA in Classics with the highest grade (equivalent to 1st Class Honours) from the University of Bologna before moving to Oxford. During my DPhil candidature, I expanded my research interests to the field of ancient philosophy, engaging equally with the Faculties of Classics and Philosophy both in terms of research dissemination and teaching. I have experience in presenting the results of my research to specialist and non-specialist audiences, both at local research seminars and at international conferences. I recently presented a well-received paper on Nietzsche's eternal return and the Platonic myth of Er at the 'Plato's Myths: Tools For Thinking' conference in Leiden (January 2024). I have also delivered lectures to undergraduate and graduate students, most recently at the Oxford Fresh Voices in Classics Lecture Series, where I spoke about the religious background of Plato's theory of recollection.

I have several years' experience in teaching Latin, ancient Greek, and aspects of classical civilisation (including ancient philosophy) to students at various levels of their academic career, including high school students and first-year undergraduates. My teaching style is based on the Oxbridge tutorial system, where the individual needs and interests of the student are placed at the centre. A typical lesson is one hour long and takes the form of a discussion on aspects of literature or philosophical thought, or a collaborative analysis of a prepared text in the case of Greek and Latin language tutorials.
