About Eren
I'm Eren, a 4th-year Biomedical Sciences student at the University of Oxford, specialising in neuroscience.
I've always loved learning, especially the moment when a difficult idea suddenly makes sense. That's what I try to create in every lesson. I'm not interested in memorising facts for their own sake. I want my students to understand why things work, because that's what builds confidence and lasting results.
Neuroscience is my passion. I'm fascinated by how the brain keeps its vast network of connections healthy, and my current research asks whether it has a built-in "self-repair" system. I'm also drawn to some of the field's biggest questions:
- How memories are stored in the connections between neurons
- Why sleep matters so much for learning and brain health
- How the brain's rhythms coordinate billions of neurons
- What mental health conditions like depression and schizophrenia reveal about how the brain works
Doing research day to day means I don't just know the textbook version. I know how the evidence was gathered, where it's strong, and where scientists still disagree. I bring that into my teaching, so you can understand the ideas and also think critically about them.
I can help with:
- Core neuroscience modules: neurophysiology, synaptic transmission, neuropharmacology, neuroanatomy and systems neuroscience
- Reading and critiquing research papers: working out what a study really shows, and where its weaknesses lie
- Essays, dissertations and exam preparation: structuring arguments, planning revision and building exam technique
I'm happy to support university students in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, psychology and medicine, as well as A-level and IB students who want to go beyond the syllabus or are preparing to apply for these subjects.
My achievements
- Highest BMAT score among Oxford Biomedical Sciences applicants in the 2022 admissions cycle
- First Class result in my Oxford undergraduate final exams
- Six A*s at A level, including maths, further maths, biology, chemistry, physics and EPQ
- Nine grade 9s at GCSE
I've been through tough academic milestones myself, from GCSEs and A levels to Oxford admissions and final exams. I know how much pressure they bring, and I'd love to help you handle them with confidence.

Neuroscience is one of the most exciting fields in science, but it can also be one of the most challenging to study. It's my specialism and my passion, and I'd love to help you get to grips with it.
In our first lesson, we'll work out what you need. It might be:
Difficult concepts: topics like neurophysiology, synaptic plasticity, systems neuroscience that don't make sense from lectures alone
Exam preparation: revising efficiently, practising exam questions and structuring strong answers
Essays and coursework: planning arguments, reading papers critically and writing clearly
Lessons are tailored to your course's content and your goals, whether you're aiming to pass a tough module or get a top grade.
Online, 60 minutes. Book one-off sessions for specific topics or regular lessons across the term.
