I have been trained as an Orton-Gillingham classroom educator and have completed my coursework for an Orton-Gillingham 1-1 practitioner. I am currently a grade 1/2 teacher, but I have also taught higher grades in my career. In the first lesson, I will use the Reach, Orton-Gillingham assessments to see what you know (yay!) and what you need support with. This includes phonics, phonemic awareness, sight word recognition, spelling, and much more. Every lesson after that will be a 60-minute lesson specifically designed for your learning needs. It will include review, practice, and new content. You will be provided with cards or little practice pieces to keep and practice at home. After each lesson, I would like 5-10 minutes with you (or your guardian) to go over what happened and what/how to continue practicing until the next session. Ideally, we would want a minimum of 2 sessions per week. These lessons are designed for people who need help learning the structure of reading and writing.
