About Justin
I am an Ontario-Certified Teacher with over 10 years of experience across multiple school boards, including Huron Perth Catholic, Bluewater District School Board, Peel District School Board, and others. I bring strong Special Education experience and have completed additional qualifications in supporting students with autism.
My core teaching areas include French, Music, History, and Visual Arts. I specialize in helping students build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and achieve success through patient, structured, and personalized instruction.

My lessons focus on helping students build strong learning strategies they can use across all subjects. Beyond content knowledge, I emphasize organization, confidence, and clear, manageable steps for success.
A typical lesson includes:
a) Reviewing current classroom expectations
We begin by checking in on what the student is learning at school — assignments, upcoming tests, areas of difficulty, and skills that need reinforcement.
b) Building core subject skills
Depending on the subject, this may include:
Music: reading notation, rhythm practice, instrument technique, or theory
History: comprehension, note-taking, summarizing, and connecting events
Visual Arts: technique development, creativity exercises, and project guidance
Elementary support: literacy, numeracy, study skills, and foundational concepts
c) Strategy development
I teach students how to break tasks down, plan their work, study effectively, and approach challenges with confidence. These strategies help them become more independent learners.
d) Practice and application
Students apply new skills through guided practice, discussion, and hands-on activities tailored to their level and interests.
e) Schoolwork support
A major part of my instruction involves helping students with current assignments, projects, and classroom expectations so they feel prepared and capable.
French-Specific Lesson Structure
For language learning in French specifically, the lessons involve:
a) Speaking & Listening Development
We build oral communication through practical, everyday topics (greetings, emotions, routines, etc.) and use them consistently to develop automaticity and confidence.
b) Writing Skills
Students strengthen their writing through grammar instruction, spelling conventions, and structured practice connected to the themes we discuss.
c) Reading Growth
I select texts that match each student’s level and interests to improve comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency.
A major part of my support involves helping students with their current schoolwork, ensuring they feel prepared, capable, and confident in class.
