About Amy
I am English teacher with a Masters in English Literature. I have been teaching English literature and ESL for more than 10 years. I have taught many ages and my students have been successful in understanding literature and writing. The effects of my classes have been that the students create more thought provoking essays based on the literature they have read; demonstrating their own understanding of the content and their ability to translate it to the written word. For my test prep students, it has meant that they have scored much higher than they would have without a tutor.

My teaching method is fun, engaging and firm. I am a good listener and I listen to students concerns but I require students to try. I believe in the Socratic method and I encourage critical thinking. I believe students already possess the answers they just need the push with the right questions to get them thinking.
