Rafael Gonçalves is a Brazilian guitarist and guitarist, acting as an interpreter, professor and researcher. He has a degree in Guitar and a Master in Arts from UFJF, and studied Guitar and Arrangement at Bituca - University of Popular Music, in Barbacena (MG). Currently pursuing a doctorate in Music, developing research on analysis, improvisation and performance in popular instrumental music. He released the authorial CD Entre Amigos (2015), with the participation of renowned musicians of Brazilian instrumental music, and has released recent authorial works. He held concerts in Brazil, Portugal and the United States. He lived in Portugal for one year, studying at the University of Évora. Between 2019 and 2020 he spent a season in New York, doing academic research and playing with local musicians. He has teaching experience, and also works with recordings, concerts and teaches guitar and guitar lessons.
