About James
I started teaching guitar in 2016 to underprivileged schoolchildren; since then, I've developed my teaching skills with a student-first approach, adapting to their specific skills and habits to get the most out of their potential. Everyone has certain abilities that can give them a leg up when they start guitar, but they often lack the confidence and knowledge to identify and use them. With more advanced students I try to push them to re-evaluate their habits, sharpen the definition of their goals, and consider new techniques. I'm currently studying Classical Piano and Electronic instrumentation at Concordia University in Montreal. And love how my students influence my work. I love classic rock, classical, Jazz, pop, bossa nova and punk rock. Ever since I started teaching, I've continued to believe in the importance of making musical expression available to all. Starting from any level, we will develop your passion and hone your musicianship.

Our first lesson consists of determining your skill level, and designing a plan to meet your goals: Maybe you just want a few chords to play Taylor Swift All Too Well--I can help there. Or perhaps you want to spend a lot of time on a new hobby--I can show you how to master your instrument. From beginner to hero, or anywhere in between. Typical lessons include custom worksheets, chord charts, and sheet music for your daily practice. We’ll work on what’s challenging you, and build good habits and technique that make playing and memorizing intuitive. Lessons can be conducted virtually, or in person. Perfect! Listen. If you're considering signing up for music lessons and you're reading this review, just do it! James has both the passion, experience and skills you're looking for that will keep you committed, challenged and motivated. He keeps his students engaged by customizing every lesson based on your preferred genre or style. In one month I know I've learned more than I could ever teach myself in a year on my own. It is always fun all around and I'm definitely returning for more.
