About Sharon-Rose
Hello! My name is Sharon-Rose, and I recently graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Law with French, as well as a Distinction in Spoken French. Throughout my academic journey, I have consistently achieved strong results, including a Grade 8 in GCSE French and an A in A-level French*.
French has always been more than just a school subject to me. Growing up hearing the language sparked my interest from a young age, and that passion led me to study it all the way through university. As part of my degree, I spent a year living and studying in Lyon, France, where I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the language, culture and everyday life. This experience not only strengthened my fluency but also gave me a deeper appreciation of French culture that I enjoy sharing with others.
I believe that learning a language should be engaging, encouraging and tailored to each student. I understand that every learner progresses at a different pace, so I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building confidence.
Having worked hard to achieve my own academic goals, I know the value of effective study techniques, consistent practice and positive encouragement. I am passionate about helping students realise their potential and take pride in seeing them grow in both confidence and ability. My lessons are designed for GCSE French students who want to improve their confidence, strengthen their understanding of the language and maximise their exam performance. Each lesson lasts one hour and is tailored to the individual student's needs, whether they require support with grammar, speaking, reading, writing or listening.
As every exam board has slightly different requirements, I ensure lessons are aligned with the relevant specification and marking criteria so that students understand exactly what examiners are looking for. I aim to identify a student's strengths and areas for improvement early on, allowing lessons to focus on the topics where they need the most support while still developing all of the core GCSE French skills.
A typical lesson may include a review of previous learning, explanation of key grammar or vocabulary, guided practice, exam-style questions using past papers and mark schemes, and constructive feedback with clear targets for improvement. I also encourage regular speaking practice to help students build confidence and fluency, alongside activities that develop reading comprehension, listening skills and written expression.
I come from a French-speaking household and have consistently excelled in French throughout my education. I achieved a Grade 8 in GCSE French, an A* in A-level French, and graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Law with French, including a Distinction in Spoken French. Studying French at degree level has given me a strong understanding of both the language and effective study techniques, which I hope to pass on to my students.
My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing confidence in their French. Whether a student is aiming to pass their GCSE or achieve the highest grades, I will adapt my teaching style to help them reach their individual goals.
