About James
James has played oboe for over 12 years taking his passion to college after high school, where he went on to pursue a music degree at Utah State University on scholarship. He has experience in solo and symphonic performance. Over the years, James has added to his musical instrument collection, picking up the organ, trumpet, English horn, and various other instruments, which he also teaches (see his other ad on his dashboard).
Still, this many years later, his passion remains with the oboe and he continues to find every chance he can to play or simply pass on his knowledge and skills to other aspiring oboists.

The biggest obstacle every oboist faces is learning to be comfortable sticking out and harnessing their unique sound. James' main goal is to make learning the oboe more approachable so more students learn it and master it by helping them embrace their identity as the heart of the symphony.
My approach combines methods of theory to increase long term development as well as practical exercises for immediate results. But also, my top priority is to strengthen their confidence to play out and be heard. As such, solo performance is a must.
I play piano at an advanced level and offer my accompanying skills to all of my students as part of my price.
