About Romain
After three years of studies in "classes prépas" in Paris, I entered the École Normale Supérieure after succeeding the competitive examination. There, I completed a Master 2 and obtained the agrégation in French literature. I also volunteered to give lessons to prep class students as part of the TALENS program. Besides, I had the opportunity to teach at Stanford University. These courses also allowed me to work with students of a wide range of nationalities (Americans, Ecuadorians, Koreans) and thus to acknowledge most of the difficulties that French presents to students speaking different languages. Apart from these group lessons, I also gave private lessons to high school students after the implementation of the baccalaureate reform, both for the written and the oral exam.

I. TRUST:
My teaching experience, in France and in the United States, has led me to value listening and discussion with students in order to establish a climate of benevolence and trust which is crucial to progress.
II. CLEAR OBJECTIVES:
I will not hesitate to give my best to help students reaching their objectives! The objectives are set in consultation with the students in order to motivate them. Giving them a clear picture of what they need to work on and defining a precise program is key to restore motivation and self confidence.
III. BE PASSIONATE:
Because passion is essential to learning, it is also the passion for French language and its literature that I want to communicate to my students, regardless of their initial sensitivity and interests.
IV. A METHODICAL AND REGULAR WORK:
My motivation lies in a firm will to help every student to gain self-confidence, to develop a taste for literary topics and to realize how much they can achieve. Whether you feel talented or not, succeeding academically isn't beyond anyone's capacities. “Method” and “regularity” are the key words of an approach aimed at rationalizing the teaching of French and giving it meaning. Too often, in fact, and whatever their level, students are confronted with contradictory injunctions or imprecise instructions. Since it is by giving meaning to your studies that interest develops, it is essential to understand the process you're following and the method you're applying.
V. AVAILABILITY AND FOLLOW-UP:
In order to best support students, I can be contacted outside of class hours, by message or by call, if there is a need to come back to specific points or to provide advice and last minute recommendations, as exams and contests get closer!
