About Tanya
I began my career in education as an older student and became interested in the neuroplasticity of the brain when my father had a stroke. After firstly looking into Art therapy, I began with teaching Grade 1 and was instantly drawn to the learners in my class that were struggling. My journey to becoming a NILD Educational therapist began here and I continued studying further with Bellavista in their Award in Literacy and Dyslexia course to further specialize in the underlying causes as well as testing and assessment tools that can fine-tune how to help learners that find reading and literacy difficult. It has been incredibly rewarding to work with some of my learners over a number of years and see them grow in confidence as well as ability. Connecting with each child is what I love best about my work while giving them the ability to become independent learners is what inspires me each day.

With a background in teaching and psychology and 6 years' experience in learner support each learner is treated as unique and once initially assessed if they have not been assessed by an Educational Psychologist, their programme will be structured around individual needs.
Language of instruction is English.
Reading and spelling support is based on a structured literacy programme and utilises multi-modal instruction to ensure maximum exposure and retention.
Maths lessons are based on current levels.
Lessons are usually 45 minutes to 1 hour once or twice a week.
