About Oytun
Oytun Erbaş graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2001 as the second in the term. He made 7 times (top 10) in TUS. Erbaş, whose main field of experience is pharmaceutical R&D studies, teaches neuroscience, biological psychology, physiology and physiopathology. He is currently teaching at different universities as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology. He is the founder of "Experimental Medicine" in Illinois state of the USA and "Experimental Medicine" Pharmaceutical R&D Laboratories in Gebze-Kocaeli & Tübitak Technology Development Zone.

Neurodegenerative mechanisms such as Parkinson, Alzheimer, neuropathy, huntington, ALS will be explained theoretically. Then, the construction of animal models (rotenone, hydroxydopamine) in parkinson and the use of stereotaxy will be taught on rats. Apomorphine rotation and rotarod balance tests, which are Parkinson's tests, will be given. In addition, histopathological changes will be explained with Parkinson's brain examination (striatum and nigra tyrosine hydroxylase immune histochemistry, crescent staining). In Alzheimer animal modeling training, the Alzheimer model will be introduced by administering streptozocine into the CSF, and training for memory tests (shuttle box, morris water tank) will be shown. Then histopathological examination techniques will be taught. In neuropathy animal models, diabetic neuropathy, toxic (heavy metal, vincristine, etc.), immune neuropathy models will be explained. Neuropathy tests (EMG, motor test) training will be given. After theoretical training on the mechanisms of personality, depression, schizophrenia and autism, modeling of these disorders in animals and hypothetical treatment approaches will be taught. For the anxiety model, drug trials in the pentylenetetrazole model and basic anxiety tests (elevated plus maze, open space, light and dark preference, etc.) will be taught. Drug trials and basic depression tests (forced swimming test, open field test, sugar water hedoni test) will be taught in the depression model caused by long-term stress for depression. Drug trials in apomorphine, ketamine, agmatine model for schizophrenia and basic psychosis tests (prepulse inhibition, stereotype, antipsychotic catatonia test) will be taught. In the inflammation model in the womb (LPS administration during pregnancy, valproic acid administration), drug trials and autism tests (social recognition and prepulse inhibition) will be taught for autism.
