About Hiyori
NOTE: I am not taking any new students at the moment. Thank you for your understanding.
About me:
I am a recent high school graduate and am able to tutor NCEA levels 1, 2, and 3 in English, Mathematics - Calculus, Physics, Digital Technologies, and Chemistry. I am taking a gap year in 2026, but will be starting a HSFY programme at the University of Otago with a scholarship in 2027.
I am very passionate about tutoring, not only because I enjoyed helping my peers during my school years, but also because I was surrounded by incredibly passionate teachers throughout my subjects, which pushed me to do my best academically.
This gave me the insight that with a passionate teacher, learning can be far more interesting and enjoyable.
With this in mind, I ensure to teach my subjects with great passion and knowledge.
Qualifications/Experience:
- NCEA level 1,2,3 excellence endorsed with over 100 excellence credits at each level
- NCEA level 1,2,3 English, Mathematics - Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, and Digital Technologies endorsed with excellence
- Australian Tertiary Admission Rank 99.70
- Awarded University of Otago Academic Excellence Entrance scholarship
- Scholarship English obtained in Year 12
- Peer tutor and experience in running workshops specialised in Digital Technologies for a non-profit organisation (Computer graphics & 3D modelling)
My experience on the subject:
I specialize in 3D modeling and animation, 2D art and animation (concept sketches, character design), and game development (Unity2D, Unity3D, C#).
I am also a committee member of the non-profit organization Genesia Girls, which promotes and supports young girls entering the technology field.

My Hobbies:
In my free time, I enjoy drawing, reading, watching anime, making 3D models, and getting involved in the art community! I am also currently working towards obtaining my Private Pilot License.

We'll have a brief discussion about the student's attitude towards the subject, as well as their previous experience and grades, to assess their initial level.
About my lessons:
- Typical lessons are 1-2 hours long, though I am flexible depending on availability
- My teaching techniques and methodologies in Digital Technologies include assisting with time and project management, clear project documentation and presentation at Excellence level including exemplars, and using real life applications of modern technology for enhanced understanding
Who I teach:
- Students in years 9-13 studying NCEA level 1,2, or 3
- Students who are willing to develop a clear understanding of the assessment criteria, particularly the distinction between Merit and Excellence grades
