About Joey
i’ve been privileged over the past two decades to work with some of the most respected art institutions in America as well as be a part of and participate in the growth and nourishment of local our communities in the capacity of curator preparator and ambassador. The Museum Contemporary Art Chicago, Art Institute of Chicago, Defibrillator Gallery and MoMA PS1 in NYC all helped me establish a robust understanding of institutional best practices, registrar based administration, logistics coordination, trends in art collection and markets. As an artist and designer, bringing art into the lives of others and enriching their understanding of its value in society and their lives comes second hand and is vivid a passion of mine.
I recently spent 7 months in Mexico where i spent a lot of time wondering into museums galleries and pop ups getting a feel for tourist and traveler oriented art practices, collecting potentials and areas where art is expanding like it never has before. Among these areas of rapid growth are digital, NFT, regenerative / activist oriented work, sustainable material use, as well as community focused projects. I have a fantastic repertoire with art world professionals, artists and art lovers. With years of client focused consulting and business development, contextualizing opportunities presented by collections or works will be a labor of love and an area where I’ve established a high degree of comfort and proficiency. I love to travel encountering adventure, treasure and wonder. This position would be such an exciting chapter in my growth and I would be so grateful to learn more about the auction side of the business.
I’ve had many years working in various types of workshops ranging from furniture restoration theatre prop and tech, creative fabrication in NyC LA and Chicago. I have a masters in design from the art institute of chicago and have my own practice in environmental art and design. I’ve made custom sculptures for google and several other high profile clients. I’ve worked as a preparator at many of the best art institutions in america including MoMA PS1 MCA chicago and Art institute of chicago. I am reliable, creative and hardworking. I appreciate the opportunity to join your team.
