About Ethan
When I was about 2, my parents moved me and my younger brother to Fort Worth, Texas. There, my mom taught me basic French foundations. I knew French colors, numbers, and basic phrases all before I went to kindergarten. When I finally got to high school, I saw that knowing another language was a pretty useful skill to have. I dove even deeper into my own language than ever before. I became my French teacher's classroom aid that same year. I helped instruct classes, come up with activities, and find ways that made learning French more fun and engaging - while remaining effective. Knowing how I learned two languages at once helped me realize that there are many "life hacks" in doing so.

Language learning in a standard classroom setting can be difficult for some students because it feels unnatural. Personally, I felt this when I was younger. My mother would teach some French to me at home, while I learned English at the same time. It is hard to learn a language simply based on grammar rules and fill-in-the-blank worksheets. A more natural approach of audio/visual intake is vital. Typically, I would test the level at which a student is currently working with. Some foundational words are often remembered. Whereas, conjugations of verbs tend to get lost in the mix. It is much easier to remember that "Je suis" means "I am" than to memorize the entire conjugation of the verb at once. I have experience tutoring middle school through high school students. However, I feel confident that I can help all levels of French learners.
