Find out more about Jorge

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak Spanish fluently because I'm a native speaker from Spain. Growing up surrounded by the language, I naturally developed a deep understanding and appreciation for it from an early age. My fluency comes from my origins and cultural background, which I now share with others as a language teacher.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

One iconic figure in Spanish culture is Miguel de Cervantes, the author of "Don Quijote de la Mancha." His work is foundational to Spanish literature and has had a lasting influence on the language and its cultural identity.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition, or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

A phrase that stands out in Spanish is "¡Qué guay!" It's a versatile expression that can convey excitement, approval, or admiration, and it's a fun example of how expressive the Spanish language can be.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Speaking Spanish matters because it is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, rich in culture, history, and diversity. By being fluent in Spanish, I can connect with a vast audience and assist in fostering cross-cultural communication and understanding.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

A common challenge in learning Spanish is mastering the verb conjugations, especially in the subjunctive mood. Consistent practice and immersion, such as watching Spanish films, reading books, and speaking with native speakers, can significantly help in overcoming this hurdle.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

While I don't have personal anecdotes, many students of Spanish find that the moment they can hold a full conversation with a native speaker, it marks a turning point in their confidence and fluency. It's a rewarding experience that often comes after persistent practice.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

For someone learning Spanish, traveling to a Spanish-speaking country can immensely boost their skills. Being surrounded by the language daily helps with pronunciation, understanding different dialects, and picking up on cultural nuances that textbooks can't fully capture.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

My experience teaching more than 50 students in the last 2 years and my extensive knowledge of Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and cultural contexts makes me a "Superprof." I can provide tailored lessons, clarify complex topics, and offer real-time feedback, helping learners at all levels improve their Spanish efficiently.
