  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak Spanish fluently because it is my native language. Growing up in Colombia allowed me to experience the language naturally every day. Later, becoming a language teacher deepened my understanding of Spanish grammar, culture, and communication, helping me teach it more effectively to students from around the world.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

One of the most emblematic figures is Gabriel García Márquez. His novels, especially One Hundred Years of Solitude, beautifully reflect the richness of Latin American culture and the expressive power of the Spanish language.

    .
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

I love the Colombian expression "¡Qué chévere!" It means "That's awesome!" or "How great!" It's a warm and positive phrase that reflects the friendliness and enthusiasm of Colombian culture. I also enjoy teaching students regional expressions because they help them sound more natural.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Spanish is more than just my native language—it's the way I connect with people, share my culture, and help others achieve their goals. Teaching Spanish allows me to build meaningful relationships with students while opening doors to new opportunities for them.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

Many learners find verb conjugations and the use of the subjunctive challenging. However, consistent practice, meaningful conversations, and learning through real-life situations make the process much easier. I believe mistakes are an essential part of learning and should always be welcomed.
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

When I started teaching Spanish to international students, I realized that knowing a language and teaching it are two different skills. One student struggled to speak because she was afraid of making mistakes. We focused on communication instead of perfection, and after a few months she confidently held her first full conversation in Spanish. That experience taught me that confidence is just as important as grammar.
  • 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Traveling within Colombia has allowed me to experience the incredible diversity of Spanish accents, vocabulary, and traditions. Every region has unique expressions and cultural customs, which has enriched my understanding of the language and helps me introduce students to authentic Spanish beyond textbooks.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

I combine native fluency with over five years of teaching experience, creating lessons that are practical, engaging, and personalized. I focus on building my students' confidence through conversation, real-life situations, and clear explanations. My goal is not only to teach Spanish but also to help students enjoy the learning process and feel comfortable using the language in everyday life.
