About Bernardo
I am a native Spanish speaker, who grew up in Chile, and has been involved in language instruction for around 6 years now. I am fluent in English and French as well, both of which I started learning as an adult. The process of learning lenguages has completely fascinated me, specially for adults. I also peak other languages too to a lesser extent, as Portuguese, Italian and German. My main occupation is however Computer Science, and I'm currently a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University. I have taught a dozen of different students so far, from different backgrounds, native languages and levels.

I start by assessing the student's current level, and discussing their goals with the language. The next step is to design a plan towards said goals with measurable milestones, from the very beginning. When the level of the student allows so, I start incorporating elements of Spanish literature and culture, specially from Latin America. This involves studying songs, asking students to watch movies, or read and talk through historical or political topics of Latin America as a tool to develop the student's proficiency in Spanish.
