About Maria
I am native from a town near Barcelona and I have studied Communication. I teach Spanish and Catalan but also English to Spanish students.
I started teaching at 17 in a nursery school to 3 and 4 year olds. At 18 I helped in an NGO in Morocco by teaching kids in school. In University I started working as a translator and subtitler for films and videos.
From then on I have been teaching both online, through different platforms such as Superprof, and in person, in a Language Academy. I teach both adults and children.
I enjoy teaching and believe it is my passion. I dedicate myself to teaching to make my knowledge available and help my students improve their level and achieve their goals. I am genuinely happy and feel accomplished when my students perform well and improve.

My methodology is mainly focused on adapting my lessons to the students' needs and requirements. There isn't one way of teaching a language but, as teachers, we should listen to our students' demands and find the best approach to teach them.
There are people who prefer to focus on their Speaking and Listening to become fluent in conversation. Others prefer to improve their Grammar and Vocabulary (Reading, Writing, Verb tenses, etc). The ideal way of improving is to combine and learn a little bit of everything, focusing especially on the areas of struggle.
My classes are fun and dynamic (nobody likes a repetitive and boring class); I alternate between exercises, activities, speaking cards, music, games, stories, etc. I am open to suggestions from students and I adapt to important dates and exams (projects, presentations, job interviews, school exams, etc).

Maria has really helped me with my Spanish and being native her accent is very easy to understand. She has also helped me with the pronunciation and improving my vocabulary. She has a lot of patience and energy!
