About Sid
Salut tout le monde ! Je m’appelle Sid et Je suis professeur de français, anglais et espagnol.
Multilingual tutor with 20+ years of experience in Teaching French, using English, Spanish,
and Persian as source languages. I have a bachelor’s degree in translation and a TESOL
certificate from Simon Fraser University; from 2003 to 2018 I taught French in my private
language school, from 2018 till now, I have been teaching online and offline. I have worked
as a freelance translator and interpreter for different companies. I have 18 years of living
experience in Quebec, which I used to help my students immigrate to Canada. I prepared
numerous students for passing TEFAQ, and the interviews in Canadian embassies
overseas, and built a great rapport with them. I was their tutor and mentor, helping them fill
out applications and find jobs and accommodation before moving to Canada.
I enjoy teaching languages especially French and seeing my students progress and achieve
their goals is the ultimate satisfaction.

My lessons are from 60 to 90 minutes twice a week. A typical 90-minute class starts with a 10-minute warm-up, including greetings, a review of the previous lesson, and talking about a new topic for the day.
Listening (15 - 20 minutes) I play an audio twice for different tasks (first for general
understanding, second for detailed comprehension), and teach them techniques for finding
the answers to follow-up questions. I ask them yes/no questions and wh- questions that can
be asked from the text and, to engage the students I will ask them to do the same thing. At
an advanced level, I ask students to explain what is happening in the dialog.
Speaking (15-20 minutes)
I ask students to talk about themselves or any topic individually.
I ask students to make pairs and interview each other.
I choose a topic for students so they can discuss in groups,
I give students incomplete information, and they should communicate with each other to
gather info to complete the task.
I give students a written dialog and they play the role of the characters in the dialog.
Vocabulary (10 minutes) Context-based learning, I give students fill-in-the-blank exercises
to fill.
I ask learners for synonyms and antonyms of certain words and colocation of words such as
salt and pepper, and fast food.
Grammar (10 minutes) I have students work on fill-in-the-blank exercises in listening form,
sentence correction game, fill-in-the-blank exercises in written form, sorting words into
categories, and work on intonation.
Reading (how to read) (15 minutes) Even though reading in French seems difficult, it can be
learned in 2-4 sessions, depending on students’ mother tongue and level of French
knowledge. During the teaching, students learn French phonetics, accents ( Aigu, Grave,
Circonflex, and Trema), vowels (a, e, I, o, u, y), diphthongs (oi, eu, ou, ai, ei), nasal vowels (in,
en, un, an). Students should not be worried, they will learn how to read and write easily.
Writing (how to write) (15Writing (how to write) (15 minutes)
É (accent aigu) : bébé [ˈbɛbeː]
È (accent grave) : mère [mɛʁ]
Ê (accent circonflexe) : même [mɛm]
Ç (cédille) : garçon [ɡɑːrˈsoʊn]
The order of writing in French is like English, Subject – Verb – Object.
English: I love French.
Français: j'adore le français
