About Sayaka
Hi, I’m Sayaka, a native Japanese speaker from Hiroshima, Japan, currently living in Auckland.
I have four years of experience working as a private tutor in Japan. Although I’m new to teaching Japanese, my previous tutoring experience taught me how to explain things patiently, communicate with different students, and adapt to each person’s pace and learning style.
I’m currently living in New Zealand on a working holiday, so I understand what it feels like to learn and communicate in another language. I know that speaking a new language can sometimes feel difficult or intimidating, so I want my students to feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions.
I’m friendly, patient, and always happy to share not only the Japanese language but also Japanese culture and everyday life. I’d love to help you enjoy learning Japanese and become more confident using it!

My lessons are friendly, relaxed, and focused on practical Japanese that you can use in real-life situations.
Lessons can include everyday conversation, pronunciation, useful expressions, basic grammar, and vocabulary, depending on your level, goals, and interests. I can also help you learn natural expressions used by native Japanese speakers and introduce Japanese culture along the way.
A typical lesson is around 60 minutes, but the content and pace can be adjusted to suit your needs. My lessons are especially suitable for beginners and intermediate learners who want to improve their conversational Japanese, whether for travel, everyday communication, or simply for fun.
Face-to-face lessons are mainly held at Central City Library in Auckland CBD. Other locations around central Auckland can also be arranged depending on your preference.
