About Julia
Having grown up in North Germany with German as my native language, I have gained further insights into structural aspects of the German language while obtaining my degree in German Studies in 2016. I am currently studying towards a PhD in Linguistics at the University of Cambridge. Having lived in different countries (Germany, Chile, UK) and being driven by a strong “Wanderlust” myself, I am very familiar with the delight but also with the challenges of learning new languages (English, Spanish, French, Turkish).

I believe that one of the main challenges associated with any kind of learning experience – but especially with learning new languages – is overcoming the anxiety of making mistakes. This is why I like to provide a positive, judgment-free environment to use your second language more bravely and creatively.
As a (Psycho-)Linguistics PhD student with degrees in German Studies (B.A.) and Linguistics (MPhil) I am also particularly passionate about making grammar appear less scary and as logical as possible while simultaneously working on improving vocabulary skills in a contextualised setting and improving accents.
I am looking forward to working with German learners at all levels and to tailoring the lessons to your individual goals and needs.
