About Iona
I'm a bilingual French and English speaker who was born and raised in Lyon, France. I have been tutoring for 2 years, and I always love to help people learn about my language and culture. I'm kind, calm and patient which is what makes me a good teacher.
I also love learning new languages myself, so I know what the ups and downs are, and I use this experience to make my approach to teaching as engaging and positive as possible!
I'm very open-minded and love meeting and tutoring people from all different backgrounds.

I offer conversational French lessons, to improve your spoken French! Each lesson will focus on a different topic which will guide the conversation, and I will adapt topics to your interests and priorities. For in-person lessons, I also love going out and about (to a cafe, park, museum...) to create an even more engaging and fun lesson.
These lessons are ideal for someone who has an intermediate to advanced level of French and is able to hold at least a basic conversation. My approach is to keep things light, fun and real, so improving your French is an enjoyable experience and prepares you for real-life experiences! We may occasionally go over grammatical rules if needed as well.
I know that speaking a new language is often the hardest part of learning a new language, so I find it important to give you space and encouragement to build your confidence.

Excellent! I'm very happy with Iona. We have met twice for a drink and for coffee in town and got to chat about various topics. Have already learnt some new words and Iona reminded me of some others I couldn't recall. Meeting again soon. Iona has also helped me via text messaging with some phrases and grammar
