About Amaya
Native English speaker (US) and native Spanish speaker, with a Cambridge C2 (CAE) certificate and working French (B1–B2). I hold a Master's from the Royal Danish Academy and Copenhagen Business School and write and publish regularly in English across academic and editorial contexts, including current work as a journal editor and as external supervisor to a Master's thesis at Politecnico di Torino. Lessons are practical, precise, and built around your real work, such as your thesis, article, presentation, or professional documents. The first session is free so we can discuss your goals before committing.

MY APPROACH: Lessons are built around what you actually need to do in English, not generic textbook exercises. We work on your real materials (i.e.: your thesis chapter, your article draft, your CV, the presentation you have to give next month) and use them as the vehicle for improving the underlying skills: argument structure, academic register, precision, fluency, confidence. I'm direct in my feedback (you'll know exactly what's working and what isn't) but never punishing about it. Language learning at this level requires honesty more than encouragement.
A TYPICAL LESSON: We usually start with a short conversational warm-up to settle into English, then spend the bulk of the session on the work you've brought, such as editing a passage line by line, rehearsing a presentation, refining an argument, or working through a specific weakness like article use or academic phrasing. I'll often give a small piece of writing or reading to do before the next session so we keep momentum between lessons. Sessions are flexible: some students prefer regular weekly slots, others book intensively around a deadline.
WHAT SETS ME APART: I'm a native US English speaker with a Cambridge C2 certificate, and I write and publish in English regularly — I have a peer-reviewed paper currently in press for the Transition Design Conference 2026 and contribute to other academic and editorial work. I currently externally supervise a Master's thesis at Politecnico di Torino on a weekly basis, so academic supervision is part of my ongoing practice, not a side claim. I'm also a native Spanish speaker and work in French at a B1–B2 level, which is useful when a concept doesn't translate cleanly from your first language into English.
WHO THE LESSONS ARE FOR: University students at Bachelor's, Master's or doctoral level working on theses, dissertations, articles or oral defenses; researchers preparing publications or conference talks; and working professionals who need stronger English for emails, reports, CVs, interviews, meetings or presentations. Also adults preparing for Cambridge exams (CAE/CPE), or simply wanting to deepen conversational and written fluency. Online or in person around Grenoble. The first session is free so we can discuss your goals and design a plan together.
