About Holly
I have been teaching music via Skype for two months with a lot of success.
I have experience working in schools as a Youth Engagement Specialist where my responsibilities included:
• Engaging with external stakeholders to arrange initial meetings with the Head of Year, assemblies, lunch time stands and parents' evenings.
• Presenting the Summer 2020 National Citizen Service programme to groups of students in Year 11 and Year 12, ranging from 40 students to 300 in each assembly.
• Engaging with students at lunchtime stands and engaging with parents and teachers at parents’ evenings.
I am a very empathetic person, with a very encouraging and inclusive style of teaching. I have an eye for detail and like to set a structure to work, but I also work to each students' needs and at their pace. I am also happy to engage with parents and keep them informed on their children's progress. I set high expectations but together we can achieve your goals!

Hello, my name is Holly and I'm an English tutor. I gear my lessons towards school children between the ages of 4-16 and children and adults learning English as a foreign language.
A typical lesson structure for KS1:
- First 10 minutes is a spelling test of 10 words set the previous week for the student to learn (these are tailored to the level of the child and are usually to do with a spelling rule we are currently learning)
- The next 15 minutes will be a short writing task using the words from the spelling test to fit into sentences, this gives the student the change to get creative with their writing but also solidify their spelling learning and new words they have learned.
- The next 15 mins is a reading task where the student will read aloud: this improves flow when reading, the student can ask any questions about definitions of words and how to pronounce them.
- The last part of the lesson, I will either set a writing task for the student on a particular topic or we will learn a new spelling rule. I will then send all details of next week's spelling test and/or writing task to the parent/guardian.
