About Inés
Hello!
I am a Dutch and Spanish student living in Madrid. I have grown up in both places going to international schools and I have lived in the UK so I'm a native English speaker.
For the last 4 years I have worked with children aged 4 to 14 as a nanny, au pair and tutor. I can provide references of the families I have worked with if necessary.
I am looking for a job as a teacher or caregiver in the afternoons or weekends, seeing as I go to university Monday to Friday until 1:00 p.m.
As for classes, I can offer both grammar and conversation to children and adults.

I have always thought that the quickest and easiest way to get the student accustomed to a new language is to directly speak to them in that language. Therefore, my classes are usually entirely in English. If the student does not know a word, it is explained in the same language with other words, and as a last instance in Spanish, but it is important that they know how to express themselves in English even if it's to ask the meaning of something.
Children do not usually know that I also speak Spanish, so they have to work twice as hard when they want to ask something instead of being lazy and asking for the Spanish translation. As a nanny I do the same, I address them only in English. Obviously, in case of emergency, I know Spanish perfectly and I would not hesitate to speak it. But I think it's very important that they get used to hearing the language all the time and use it to communicate with me or their classmates.
